Xuping Zhao, a member of the Communist Party of China, is currently the deputy director of the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Mining and Equipment for Deep Metal Mines. He was awarded the National May Day Labor Medal in 2026.

      As the leading figure of the Model Worker Innovation Studio in Shenyang City,  Xuping Zhao has developed over ten high-end equipment items in brand-new fields. Many of his innovative achievements have broken foreign monopolies and won more than 20 provincial and municipal science and technology awards, making outstanding contributions to the development of the industry. In particular, it has created the world's first "three-beam four-column pre-stressed vertical frame and steel wire wound orthogonal pre-tightening horizontal frame combined structure", and won the bid for the "5mx5mx5m Geological Model Long-Term Heavy Load Loading Host" project. It will achieve the world's first ultra-high simulation of a 5m-level geological model, promoting the national strategy of "advancing into the deep Earth". In 2015, he was awarded the May Day Labor Medal of Shenyang. In 2021, he was honored as a Model of Scientific and Technological Innovation in China's Heavy Machinery Industry during the 13th Five-Year Plan. In 2023, he was awarded the May Day Labor Medal of Liaoning Province. In 2025, he was awarded the title of "Shenyang Craftsman".
