Tingwei Yu, a member of the Communist Party of China. He was the deputy general manager of former Mining and Metallurgical Equipment Branch of Northern Heavy Industries Group. He has been diligently studying his business, constantly scaling new heights in technology, and has introduced a design plan for domestic double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills. The various types of coal mills he has led the development and design of are distributed in 56 power plants across the country. He has be awarded many science and technology progress awards at the ministerial, provincial and municipal levels, and partially filled the national gap. On October 20, 2000, a product appraisal meeting for double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills, presided over by the State Economic and Trade Commission, appraised that the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill developed by ShenZhong "reached the international advanced level, filled the domestic gap, and ended the long-term history of reliance on imports." As a result, the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill caused a strong stir in the domestic power industry, and name of Tingwei Yu was closely associated with the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill.

With the lofty ideal of revitalizing the national equipment manufacturing industry, after 22 years of arduous efforts, Tingwei Yu has grown from an ordinary college student to a technical backbone and professional chief designer. Every step he has taken has been accompanied by his unwavering pursuit of hard work and perseverance, and has been the result of his wisdom and sweat in diligent research and unremitting climbing.

In 1983, Tingwei Yu graduated from Technology Institute of Jilin University  with a major in mining machinery. He was selected by ShenZhong with excellent grades. The following year, he was transferred to the design institute to engage in the design of mining ball mills. Three years later, he transferred to the position of coal mill design and thus forged a "special fate" with coal mills.

In the 1980s, Shenzhong technology in mining ball mills and coal mills for power plants was leading nationwide. Tingwei Yu began his technological accumulation on this platform. In 1989, ShenZhong introduced the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill technology from France, and Tingwei Yu went to France to carry out the drawing conversion work.

The double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill is a new type of equipment used in thermal power plants. At that time, the domestic market for double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills was monopolized by world-renowned companies such as Foster Wheeler of the United States and Bakok of Germany. Tingwei Yu held his breath in mind Master advanced technology and produce products of our own in China.

Two months later, Tingwei Yu returned to China and threw himself into the work of technology transformation. Soon he has designed the product drawings. However, since 1991, none of the four projects that ShenZhong negotiated with domestic power plants were successful, as the cost was too high. The design drawing of the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill has been "Invalid" for eight years. In 1996, the factory director found Tingwei Yu and said, "We must carry out domestic production transformation and lower the price!" Tingwei Yu nodded resolutely, took on the responsibility of a designer, and began the arduous work of domestic design transformation. Half a year later, a new domestic design plan for the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill was released. After calculation, the price of its product was only one third of that of foreign products.

Having a good product, it is also necessary to bring it to the market as soon as possible. While some people in the factory were thinking of changing jobs due to company poor performance, Tingwei Yu, along with the sales staff, carried dozens of pounds of materials on their backs, traveling by train, bus and living in basements between power plants, mines and design institutes across the country. All efforts paid off. In 1997, Shandong Laicheng Power Plant finally signed a supply contract for 12 double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills with Shenyang Heavy Machinery Factory.

After a year of processing and manufacturing, the installation and commissioning work began on November 6, 1999. Tingwei Yu stared at the coal mill for a full 24 hours without closing his eyes. On December 10th, the No. 1 unit of the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill successfully passed the 168-hour trial operation, exceeding the international standard of 72 hours. Subsequently, Unit 2 was put into operation and passed the 168-hour trial run in just 11 days, setting a world record for the installation and commissioning of similar products. After that, the equipment did not stop and continued to operate for another 131 days. This achievement was recorded by the Shanghai Guinness World Records Headquarters as the world's best. That day, Tingwei Yu and his friends got dead drunk to celebrate.

October 20, 2000 was an unforgettable day for Tingwei Yu. A product appraisal meeting for double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills, presided over by the State Economic and Trade Commission, was held in Tai 'an, Shandong Province. The appraisal result that The double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill developed by Shen Zhong "has reached the international advanced level, filled the domestic gap, and ended the long-term history of reliance on imports." As a result, the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill caused a strong stir in the domestic power industry. Some manufacturers extended "olive branches" to ShenZhong, and name of Tingwei Yu was also closely associated with the double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill.

A life of dedication is an elevation of one's realm. Tingwei Yu was even busier. So many nights did his laptop accompany him, with thousands of numbers churning in his mind. He ran to power plants, boiler factories... ShenZhong domestically produced double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills have gradually been accepted by people. Product orders came one after another, 8 units for Zhuzhou Power Plant in 2000 and 8 units for Qianbei Power Plant in Guizhou. In 2001, there were 6 units in Yongcheng Power Plant, Henan Province and 10 units in Hequ Power Plant, Shanxi Province. Since 2002, the national market has been fully opened up. In 2003, 100 units were signed, and in 2004, 156 units were signed. From the production of the first double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill to 2005, the cumulative signed orders reached 398 units, with an output value of 2.7 billion yuan. The double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill has become a flagship product of ShenZhong, accounting for 40% of the company's output value.

Tingwei Yu had no rest days. He traveled on business for over 200 days each year and spent most of his spare time in the design studio. On October 1, 2003, Tingwei Yu suffered from gastric bleeding. His wife immediately sent him to the hospital for treatment. After receiving the intravenous drip, He wanted to go home, but the doctor didn't agree. He pleaded to say “Datang Power Company is near to tender. This project is ShenZhong biggest one as so far and it can't be missing in my hands." On October 4th, He rushed to Beijing and immediately threw himself into the bidding work. Datang Power Company was conducting a bundled tender for four power plants, with a total value of 160 million yuan. After a week of thorough preparation, the tender document was completed. In the bidding, ShenZhong defeated the foreign rivals by an absolute advantage and won all the bids.

Tingwei Yu has too many unbreakable feelings for ShenZhong. Entering the new century, he was consecutively honored as a Model Worker of Shenyang City and Liaoning Province. In 2005, he was awarded the title of National Model Worker. After gaining fame, people who were eager to recruit him kept coming to him. Some units offered high salaries to hire him, but Tingwei Yu was never tempted. He said, "It was ShenZhong who gave me the stage to grow, and I will devote my entire life to repaying it."

Tingwei Yu felt guilty for his parents. On November 8, 2002, he was bidding in Beihai when his family called to tell him that his father had passed away. He suppressed his grief and finished the bidding process. He didn't rush to his hometown in Jixi until the bid announced winning. When he entered the home door, he knelt down with in front of his father's coffin, crying badly.

      Never forget why you started, and your mission could be accomplished. Tingwei Yu has a sense of urgency for the survival and development of the enterprise and a sense of responsibility for its future and destiny. Revitalizing the national industry is his persistent pursuit and dream. The domestically produced BBD4062 double-inlet and double-outlet coal mill, which he led the development and design, was listed as a "New record of Chinese Enterprises" by the China Enterprise Confederation and the China Entrepreneurs Association. He has successively developed over a dozen new series of coal mills in various specifications such as BBD4360 and BBD4366, making the market for ShenZhong coal mills even broader. In 2003, he independently developed the MBB2936 closed-cycle rod mill, filling a domestic gap. In December 2004, the national standard for double-inlet and double-outlet coal mills was approved, and all the parameters for formulating the standard were created by Tingwei Yu.
